Some things I've learned about...

How Fear Shows Up

  • It makes itself so familiar you think it was always there.
  • It wants everything and is satisfied with nothing.
  • It gets you thinking you're shivering when really you're trembling.
  • It asks for a little when you deserve a lot.
  • It bites your fingernails, pulls your hair and cuts you in secret places.
  • It makes you cry when you long to be assertive.
  • It lets you overwork then makes you so depressed you can't work.
  • It gives you a headache when you just want to go to sleep.
  • It shuts you down or makes you shout, it makes it hard to speak your truth calmly.
  • It pretends it is passion for life when you want to slow down.
  • It says interior design is more important than self reflection.
  • It drinks coffee or alcohol and smokes cigarettes when you need to relax.
  • It makes 'friends' with people who disrespect you.
  • It gets you shouting when you just want to cry.
  • It makes you not love the person who truly sees you.
  • It tells you "Stay small." when the essence of you is calling out "Live big, live big!".
  • It says you're ugly when you start radiating strength.
  • It makes you stay when you ought to be leaving.
  • It speaks when you want to be quiet.
  • It tels you you're hungry when you get thirsty for life.
  • It lives in your head because it knows what lives in your heart is strong enough to heal it.
  • It wants you to sell out on your dreams.
  • It wakes you with nightmares or won't let you go to sleep.
  • It makes you 'love' someone who's cruel to you.
  • It seeks help from people who are more afraid than you are.
  • It helps you smile when you've been insulted.
  • It listens to songs that make you cry and watches movies that make you sad.
  • It makes you apologise when someone else has hit you.
  • It only takes risks when it has planned on you failing.
  • It makes you wait and wait till your choices are limited.
  • It doesn't like to meditate, to pray, to walk in forests, sit by oceans or make love.

It originates in the past but is reborn in each moment. In this moment and this moment and this moment... unless you put it in it's place. Are you ready for that? Are you ready to evolve through your fear? Are you ready to give yourself the quality of life you truly deserve? E-mail Elizabeth now if you'd like her to help you face your fear.

Wise Caterpillar Wisdom
Face of fear.

"And of course I am afraid, because the transformation of silence into language and action is an act of self-revelation, and that always seems fraught with danger.

But my daughter, when I told her of our topic and my difficulty with it, said, 'Tell them about how you’re never really a whole person if you remain silent, because there’s always that one little piece inside you that wants to be spoken out, and if you keep ignoring it, it gets madder and madder and hotter and hotter, and if you don’t speak it out one day it will just up and punch you in the mouth from the inside.'"

Audre Lorde

"There would be no one to frighten you if you refused to be afraid."

Mohandas K. Gandhi

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us."

Marianne Williamson

"Fear always springs from ignorance."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

"You can discover what your enemy fears most by what he uses to frighten you."

Eric Hoffer
